I agree with many of the previous reviews. The officiating was horrible because it did not exist. This led to out of control play by a certain team in our division. Our team a few players on multiple occasions get hit with hockey sticks as if it were baseball batting practice. Refs were allowing play to continue while kids were literally laid out on the ice. I really felt like I was watching tackle hockey. I will not go back to this facility for a tournament. This sentiment was shared by most parents, coaches and players. The facility itself was impressive, I'm thinking this tournament was a cash grab to pay for it. The weekend was not spent playing hockey, it looked more like a battle scene out of Braveheart.
Cons: Parking is a problem at this place. Drop off area usually full of unattended cars. You usually need to walk far, so bring crampons, because the parking lot is often covered in ice.
This used to be a great place to come, it’s always felt like your on an assembly line but this year was unacceptable.
Be warned you are taking a RISK with your son or daughter playing here. They have expanded the rinks and don’t have the referees to cover the explanation. Between my 2 boys (pee wee and squirt 6 games) each and every game was only with one ref. The games became more and more aggressive as calls were ignored and missed. Injury’s will happen. The poor management by the refs led to more aggression with the kids and the parents.
Pros: Decent food and beverage for.a rink.
They've gotten too big to effectively support the league's and tournament play they hold their. From parking to the new half-completed rinks, it's a surprise they have a occupancy permit. Games held at rinks at with stairwells under construction with no stands for people to watch, standing room only.
This perception of mine is not only mine it was the talk of the tournament in the halls. Speaking with the shop employee he didn’t want to hear it, his response was “your the 20th person who told me”.
We will not be returning next year, nor will many other parents who feel the same.
Another problem is we played against double A teams when we are a squirt c team. There was no competition just continual crushing and disappointment for our children.
This place is huge. Definitely an issue with parking though. There is only one main entrance. Some referees were terrible.
